## Electric commercial trucks

Truck manufacturers have been investing in electric drivetrains as fleet operators
look for lower local emissions, less noise and potential operational savings under
suitable usage conditions.

However, feasibility depends on route length, payload, charging infrastructure, 
vehicle cost and operating pattern. These factors differ materially between urban
distribution and international long-haul transport.

## Automated driving systems

Advanced driver assistance has become increasingly important in modern commercial
vehicles. Features such as lane support and adaptive cruise control are intended
to assist drivers and improve vehicle operation.

Fully autonomous commercial operations face additional regulatory, technical and
practical requirements. Businesses should distinguish currently available driver
assistance from future autonomy concepts.

## Connected fleets and telematics

Vehicle connectivity allows fleets to gather information about driving behaviour,
fuel use, maintenance, routing and vehicle condition. When managed well, this data
can support improved planning and reduced downtime.

The value of telematics depends on implementation, driver training and how operators
use the information rather than simply installing connected hardware.

New technology can influence demand, residual value and maintenance considerations,
but the actual value of a used vehicle still depends on specifications, condition,
